Patio Cover Permits: When You Need One and When You Don’t (San Jose)
Does a patio cover need a permit in San Jose? How the small-structure exemption works, what the building code requires, and how to check…
Kitchens · Completed project
A navy blue kitchen with a custom range hood strapped in brass, a large quartz island and a white plank ceiling that runs into the family room.
Project overview
Navy blue shaker cabinets with brass pulls line three walls of this kitchen and wrap a large island topped with white quartz. Above the range, a curved navy hood with brass straps and rivets is the centerpiece, framed by open shelves with wood boards.
Glossy white handmade-look tile covers the walls from counter to ceiling. A brass pot filler sits over the rangetop, and the island holds a stainless sink with a brushed brass faucet, a glass-door wine cooler and deep drawers. Double wall ovens are built into the tall cabinets.
A white plank ceiling with recessed lights and a ceiling fan carries over light oak floors into the family room, where navy built-ins with glass doors and a wine cabinet flank the fireplace and TV wall.

How we work
The same five steps run every Quartz job, from the first visit to the final walkthrough. One team designs, permits and builds it.
We measure the kitchen, look at plumbing, gas and electrical, and plan the layout with you.
Cabinets, countertops, backsplash, appliances, sink and lighting are chosen before work starts.
Electrical, plumbing and any wall changes are permitted through the city.
The old kitchen comes out; plumbing, gas and electrical are updated and inspected.
Cabinets, counters, backsplash and appliances go in, and we walk the finished kitchen with you.
